Alpha Nu Omega MLK Day of Service

For MLK Day of Service on Monday, January 20, 2014 Alpha Nu Omega chapter members and friends can choose to participate in one of two events:

 URBAN TILTH on the Richmond Greenway brings together  hundreds of community members to expand, improve and install new gardens along the Richmond Greenway Community Garden.  The Greenway Community Garden is an open, gleaning garden in the heart of the Iron Triangle neighborhood in  Richmond, California.  Its 42 raised beds are located on the southwest side of 6th Street along the Richmond Greenway between Ohio and Chanslor Ave.  They currently raise a variety of vegetables and herbs year around free for the community to harvest.  Sorors please plan to meet at8:30 am at the corner of Ohio Ave & S 6th St Richmond, CA 94804  to help serve coffee, tea and bagels.  Soror Mildred Gardner is the contact person for the day.  Please contact Mildred Gardner at gardnermildred@hotmail.com By Friday if you will participate.  You are also welcome to work in the gardens along the beltway.  Please wear garden attire and something pink and green to represent our sorority!  This event will end around 2 pm.

OR

MLK Day of Service at Oakland’s Lake Merritt Rose Garden.  This event will take place rain or shine.  First, registration, t-shirt distribution and continental breakfast will be Monday, January 20, 2014, 8:30am at 666 Belleview Street, Oakland. It is imperative that volunteers be on time to ensure shuttle service to the Rose Garden.  Mayor Jean Quan will kick-off the event  9:00am sharp.  An official dress code for the event is forthcoming, however, volunteers are encouraged to wear comfortable gardening attire including shoes, gloves and goggles.  Please send your RSVP to Sharese Hill at smhill@sbcglobal.net by this Friday if you wish to participate in this event.  A light snack/lunch will be provided and we will be working alongside XGO.
